· Big Brothers and Big Sisters will be here after the meeting today to introduce an excellent service program! Stay after the meeting if you would like to learn more about it!
· Be excited!! The Special Olympics Kids Project is coming up on October 20th!! This will be very similar to the Senior Citizen dance and is mandatory for all NHS members! Be sure to sign up to help if you haven’t already done so!
· Also, the Tuesday and Thursday before the dance (October 16 and 18) will be dance decorating days where you can earn additional service hours (make sure you signed up on only a given space). The day of the dance, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. will also be decorating time. The dance is from 2:00-4:00 p.m., but NHS members should plan on being there at 1:30 p.m. and leaving around 4:30 p.m.!!
· Make up meetings are Thursdays in Mrs. English’s room at 7 a.m. The meetings will be completed around 7:10 a.m. A valid reason must be given in a note as to why you were not in attendance at the original meeting. Those of you who are in co-op do not need to provide a note, because your sponsor has sent a list excusing you from doing so.
· If you wish to resign from National Honor Society, at the back of last week’s newsletter is a short paragraph for you and a parent to read and sign, reminding you of what will no longer apply to you upon your resignation.
· A new NHS WEBSITE was created by our wonderful webmaster John Zhao! Go check it out at http://clementsnhs.wordpress.com!
NHS Rules and Reminders:
· Remember to show up for all meetings! If you cannot attend a meeting and have a valid excuse, you must give a note to Mrs. English (Room 2313) and attend a make-up meeting the following Thursday after the meeting in Mrs. English’s room.
· If your e-mail address has changed, please send an e-mail to the NHS e-mail address (nhs.clements@yahoo.com), so that our records can remain accurate!
· Do not rely on your pod-leaders or friends to check you in at the meetings. It is your responsibility to ensure the recording of your attendance. If you are not, for any reason, checked in, you will most definitely be SAC-ed, so do what you can to make sure that that doesn’t happen!
· Remember that you should sit in your pod at the meetings for organizational and attendance purposes.
Mark your calendars! Here are our upcoming NHS meetings:
- Wednesday, October 24
- Wednesday, November 14
